Banana Cream Pie Smoothie

Banana Cream Pie without the baking? Dessert for breakfast? You betcha! This smoothie version only has 4 simple ingredients and takes hardly no time at all to whip up. Pretty flippin’ awesome if I say so myself.


This smoothie was created by complete accident. I was speaking at an event a few weekends ago on stress and gut health, and part of the session included mingling and munching on a collection of recipes from my blog. Each of the ladies brought in, either a made recipe or contributed to ingredients for a few of my smoothie recipes.

I have to say it was the one of most awesomest (not a word but let’s pretend it is) experiences seeing my creations created my others. Firstly, it was surreal to see everything I’ve published over the past several months come to edible fruition and I remember saying to myself “okay phewwww thank god the instructions actually made sense.” #Truth


Secondly, I loved seeing how much the ladies enjoyed all the different options. I was a little nervous anticipating their feedback, I’m not going to lie. “What if they hate the recipes?!”

However, it turned out better then I expected.  Many of the ladies shared with me that they were inspired to implement healthier alternatives and recipes like these into their lives after that event. Woohoo!! Best moment ever. There are no words that can describe that feeling when you genuinely inspire others and make a real difference with them. Whether that’s a new recipe for them to try, a smile, or a listening ear. It’s the simple things my friends, and sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impact.


Okay, now how did I come across this recipe…right. When it came time to make the Strawberries And Cream Smoothie, the strawberries were left behind at the grocery store but we still had  all of the other ingredients, plus an extra banana. No biggie.  I thought to myself “hmmm banana and coconut…sounds pretty darn good to me.”  Improvise time!  And even the ladies agreed that this banana cream pie impromptu was really friggen’ good.  An instant hit. Plus, I was super excited I had another easy and tasty recipe to share.  Everything happens for a reason right?


Now to some of the stellar health benefits…..

Had a tough workout? Banana’s are a great source of minerals and vitamins that can help replenish your body after a sweat session. They’re also a kick-butt prebiotic food that helps feed the good bacteria in your gut for a rocking digestion and immune system.

And you should know by now that I love (more like I’m obsessed with) coconut. Everything and anything coconut. By far, one of my most favourite foods to eat and bake with.The healthy fats that help you burn fat, the immune boosting properties, the gut healing superpowers, the healthy hair, nails, and skin benefits….I could go on.


This smoothie is banana dreamy creamy, silky, coco-nutty, and protein packed. It also comes in gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and refined sugar-free, so it can be enjoyed by most. I recommend using a frozen banana for extra cold creaminess and a milkshake texture.

Enjoy this smoothie for brekkie, after a workout, or even as a meal if you’re in a pinch. Warning. You will become addicted 😉


Banana Cream Pie Smoothie

  • Prep Time: 4m
  • Cook Time: 1m
  • Yield: 1 serving


  • 1 banana (frozen preferred)
  • 1/4 cup of full fat coconut milk(from a can)
  • 1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 scoop of vanilla vegan protein powder
  • 1 teaspoon of unsweetened coconut flakes(optional for topping)
  • few ice cubes if not using frozen banana


  1. Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until combined. Feel free to sprinkle 1 tsp of unsweetened coconut flakes on top, however this is optional. Enjoy!


  1. Frozen banana is preferred but you can use a regular one. Use ice cubes if that's the case.
  2. You can use unsweetened almond or soy milk if you don't have any coconut milk on hand.
