Bliss Balls a.k.a Little Bites of Heaven

I LOVE BLISS BALLS–they are hands down one of my favourite snacks.  They are the perfect go-to bite for a quick energy boost or satisfying treat. Ever since the first time I tried out the recipe, I almost ALWAYS have a batch in the freezer. I’m dead serious.

I have been asked numerous times for the recipe and I would love to share with you all. Almost everyone I introduce these bliss balls to are instantly addicted. So I apologize in advance;)

Besides tasting delicious, these bliss balls are non-bake, with just a few simple ingredients. They’re super easy to whip up and are quite nutritious—packed with fibre, protein, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and are low in sugar.  Extra bonus! These bliss balls are also gluten-free, soy-free, vegan(egg and dairy-free), yeast free and can be nut free(if you use seeds and seed butter).

You can tweak the recipe as you like, substituting different nut/seed butters, dried fruit, seeds and nuts depending on your personal preferences or food intolerances. If you’re feeling adventurous, here are a few ideas you can try out:

  • Use a nut butter of your choice (peanut, tahini, cashew, sunflower) instead of almond or mix a couple different ones together. My favourite is peanut and almond butter mixed together.
  • Substitute a different dried fruit  like: diced apricots, figs or dates or dried cherries, instead of the raisins. You can also  combine a variety of dried fruits together.  My favourite combo is diced figs, dates and raisins.
  • Swap honey for maple syrup
  • Use chia seeds or hemp hearts instead of ground flax.
  • Try chopped walnuts, sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds instead of almonds or cashews.
  • Use ½ a scoop of vegan vanilla or chocolate protein powder instead of honey or add for additional protein! (may have to up the liquid component with some unsweetened coconut, almond milk or non-dairy milk of choice)

Recipe makes approximately 24 bliss balls


  • 1 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/2  cup of chopped almonds all ingrients displayed
  • 1/2 cup of chopped cashews
  • ½ cup of raisins
  • 1/3 cup of honey- use less if you are trying to cut back on sugar
  • ¼ cup of ground flax seeds
  • 1/4 cup of cacao powder
  • ½ tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup of unsweetened coconut flakes
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 100 grams of 70% dark chocolate chopped or dark chocolate chips (enjoy life brand is dairy free)

Bliss Ball making time!

1. Warm honey until liquefied.

2. Transfer honey to a medium sized mixing bowl and stir in the nut butter and vanilla until evenly blended.

3. Next add the cacao powder and stir until completely blended.

4. Add in the remaining ground flax seeds, coconut flakes, dark chocolate chunks, raisin, nuts and sea salt mixing until well incorporated.

5. Using your hands, roll tablespoonfuls of the mixture into snack sized balls. The mix should feel a little sticky.

6. If your mixture is too dry, just simply squeeze the balls together instead of rolling them or you can add a little water or unsweetened coconut or almond milk.

7. Store the bliss balls in the freezer, in an airtight container.
