Raspberry Almond Smoothie {GF, Vegan}

5 ingredients. One delicious smoothie.

It’s International Women’s Day and I just wanted to start by making a shoutout to all you powerful ladies! (Hence the pink smoothie theme). Never ever forget that you have your own special one of a kind gifts that are unique to only you and are meant for you to share with the world. And, what’s even better is when we work together and support each other, we can make an even bigger amazing difference on this planet. Plus, it’s way more fun doing it with all you awesome women around me. Thank you for your love and support and never stop being a badass and sharing who you are!

Back to the topic of yummy recipes, I decided to take a break with the energy bar posting…and drinking coffee. Sighhhhhh. I’m not going to lie both have been a challenge BUT I do have a bunch of bars made up that are ready for future sharing. Which is all good stuff for you! The coffee thing on the other hand has been managed by swapping in Green and Herbal Tea’s. I’m in the midst of withdrawal, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I will share with you my positive (wink wink) coffee updates next week.

Another thing that I love about making new recipes is the experimenting part. Letting the creative juices flow. The OMG this combo actually tastes good moments. That’s what it was like coming up with this raspberry almond smoothie. When it comes to using raspberries in recipes, I love them in raw desserts. However…… I’m not super crazy having them on their own in my smoothie. Something about the mix with protein powder reminds me of drinking cough syrup. Super gross I know!

I was determined to find a combination that I knew even I would enjoy. And that’s where this creation was born. The almond butter and banana tone down the tartness of the raspberries and the result is a refreshing blend of silky sweet goodness that’s a breeze to make. Also, the ingredients are all gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.

The health benefits of the smoothie are not too shabby if I say so myself. Raspberries are packed with vitamin C, which is great for skin health, our immune system, and quenching inflammation.

Bananas are loaded with not only potassium and other good nutrients, but contains a decent amount of vitamin B6 which can help us beat the blues(depression) and boost our energy levels.

Did you know that almonds contain the world’s best food source of vitamin E? You bet! This vitamin is great for healthy looking skin, slowing down the again process, and protecting our cells from free radical damage. Drink up!
